This workshop introduces KS2 pupils to the idea of a “career” and opens their eyes to the wide range of careers in sport beyond playing — including coaching, physiotherapy, event management, sports media, community development and digital roles. Pupils explore their interests and strengths through engaging, practical activities while building early confidence in their skills, ideas and voice.
Designed for primary settings, the workshop helps schools deliver a broad and balanced curriculum in line with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF), with a strong emphasis on personal development, character education, and preparation for next steps. Pupils take part in structured reflection, self-assessment, teamwork and presentation tasks that help them recognise their own potential and see sport as a diverse world of opportunity.
The workshop also aligns with the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance, adapted for primary career-related learning. Pupils learn how skills like communication, teamwork, creativity and leadership are used in real careers; they engage in hands-on activities that mirror workplace thinking; and they encounter real examples of job roles across the sports industry. These activities mean children understand that careers grow from the things they enjoy, the skills they build in school and the opportunities they take as they get older.
The session is flexible and fully supported by resources so teachers can adapt it to different year groups, curriculum priorities and local contexts. We can also deliver this session to your students with one of our expert presenters. Please reach out directly.
