Ignite introduces students to the foundations of sports leadership. Through communication, organisation, responsibility, empathy and reflection, students learn what it means to lead and then apply their skills through a small coaching session.
Lesson Themes
- What is a Sports Leader? – Trait Theory, key behaviours, employability
- Communication – Feedback, clarity, planning instructions
- Organisation – Planning structures, SMART targets, role allocation
- Responsibility – Duty of care, safeguarding, inclusive leadership
- Empathy – Recognising barriers, adapting activities
- Delivery & Reflection – Leading a practical session and evaluating impact
End of Unit Project
Lead a 15–20 minute coaching session for younger pupils or peers, supported by planning and reflection tools.
