Sport Education
Develop employability skills through the power of sport
Bring learning to life with our 9-week Sport Education Unit for primary pupils, where pupils experience a real sporting season while developing the character and employability skills that underpin future success.
Based on the internationally recognised Sport Education model, originally developed by Professor Daryl Siedentop, this resource transforms pupils from simply taking part in sport to becoming active members of a team. Throughout the season, children take on authentic roles such as Coach, Team Manager, Journalist, Health & Safety Manager and Team Talk Leader, giving every pupil meaningful responsibility whilst developing leadership, teamwork, communication and confidence.
Importantly, this resource is not designed to replace your PE curriculum. Instead, it should be delivered alongside PE, as an enrichment programme, during curriculum enhancement time, enrichment afternoons, after-school clubs, or as part of PSHE or Careers Education, allowing schools to use sport as a vehicle for developing essential life and employability skills.
Across nine weeks, pupils compete in fixtures, plan warm-ups, organise teams, solve problems, reflect on their learning and celebrate success, whilst exploring weekly employability themes including:
